How Spring Labs kept bounce rates under 3% in Outreach.
An interview with Alexander Kogan, Director of Finance, and
Alan Talavera, Director of Business Development at Spring Labs.
Spring Labs keeps bounce rates well under 3% because Allegrow checks contact data for risk when reps schedule emails in Outreach.
Safety Net has stopped thousands of risky emails from being sent, including contacts that went stale while reps re-prospected.
Spring Labs holds a consistent 95% sender reputation, up from the low 80s it was at when the team first started using Allegrow.
Spring Labs builds AI solutions that help financial institutions automate operations while meeting strict compliance standards. The company raised a $30 million Series B led by TransUnion. Its BDR team runs outbound sequences in Outreach, with contact data from ZoomInfo.

Alexander: The biggest issue we had was that employees who were even emailing current clients were still landing in the spam folder. Allegrow helped us with advice and guidance on setting up a new subdomain and moving the sales function away from the core domain, this hedging alongside the platform essentially solved the issue for us.
Before, we had a lot of worries about our Head of Product, for example, sending a bottom-of-funnel lead some key information and it was going to spam. This has been eliminated by utilizing Allegrow.
Alan: When I first joined Spring Labs, we were using Apollo, but we noticed that we were having issues with, at times, significantly higher spam and bounce rates. This was causing our reps to have issues with their accounts and resulted in suspensions at times. Inevitably, this led to other deliverability issues within the business, specifically with current customers, so this became an immediate cause for concern.
We knew that we had a deliverability problem, but we weren’t really sure how we were going to improve this or measure it. After the move to Outreach and ZoomInfo from Apollo, we started looking into mechanisms to make sure we could keep the reps performing. Cold outbound is some of the highest-risk activity, and we wanted to make sure we were conducting this correctly, particularly with the Google and Yahoo announcement towards the end of 2023.
Alexander: We use Allegrow to help empower our BDR team to make more sales. Utilizing Outreach.io for sequences, it was a no-brainer to choose Allegrow as a partner. We’ve had a great experience using Allegrow as a tool and it’s the final piece in the puzzle to help us understand more about utilizing email in our outbound efforts. We’re now able to track our reputation, understand how our outbound is affecting the reputation, and it’s been in a great position since we joined Allegrow.
We needed a solution that was non-intrusive and integrated directly into our current tech stack, which is exactly what Allegrow does via the Outreach integration.
Alan: We needed a solution that integrated directly with our current tech stack and after browsing the Outreach marketplace we saw Allegrow. Although there are plenty of other tools that ‘warm’ there wasn’t any solution like Allegrow that was also able to prevent you from falling into known spam traps, known spam reporters and intervene to stop this harmful activity before the email gets sent.
One problem we saw Allegrow could solve with the Safety Net was creating quality assurance around how fresh our email contact data is. For example, there’s data that could have come into our CRM and been fresh at the time, but if reps are re-prospecting old accounts or working through past segments, this could easily turn into emails that bounce and hurt your sender reputation. Allegrow will analyze this data for risk when the rep schedules the emails and make sure those bounces are avoided. This was a unique and powerful capability that no one else offered.
When we evaluated all the functionality available in Allegrow, it made the decision pretty clear for us – with a platform that would provide improvement to our deliverability and reputation, ongoing monitoring, and safeguards to help us avoid the worst possible complications.
Alexander: Bounce rates are very low, well under 3%, and we see a consistent 95% sender reputation compared to the low 80% reputation that we saw when we initially joined Allegrow. At this point, anyone who is not part of the sales team is no longer facing deliverability issues.
The Safety Net is great; it stops the emails from being sent in Outreach that are actively going to harm our sender reputation, and it’s been tremendously helpful.
Alan: The solution that Allegrow provides has given our entire team peace of mind that our emails are now landing in the primary folder and are going to be read. Once the integration was switched on, we had much better visibility of our data quality and the best next steps to make sure that our reps can continue outbounding and our current customers aren’t affected by our deliverability issues.
Deliverability, in general, is pretty daunting, but having a solid platform like Allegrow and experts on the team who have been able to support and guide us through this has been the real difference-maker for us.
The only time we’ve seen a sales team member have spam issues since implementing the solution was when we actually chose to turn off the Safety Net for a specific rep as a test. So following implementation and testing, I’m fairly confident deliverability issues are solved for good as long as we stay on the straight and narrow with general prospecting best practice and utilizing Allegrow.
Bounces and risky contacts are what damage sender reputation. Allegrow verifies every contact before it's sent with conclusive valid/invalid results, including catch-all domains and addresses behind Proofpoint and Mimecast that other verifiers mark as “Unknown.”
