The Customer

Booster is the largest school fundraising company in the United States. Its platform makes it easy for individuals, volunteers, teachers, and families to organize and take part in fundraising activities. Booster works with 4,000 elementary schools and 3,000 middle and high schools nationwide, and about 80% of its new business comes from outbound email. The team needed to send large volumes without hurting the brand, keep up with Google’s spam filter updates, and see sender reputation and email performance for each SDR.

The Interview with Lindsay Minnema and Mark Norman

Tell us about how you’re using Allegrow

Lindsay: It’s been great to use both the performance hub and the leaderboard. Being able to go in, see all the individual users, see their historic tendencies, and assess the impact of their activities in a live environment can impact sender reputation.

We realized that having the ability to stop sending bad emails before they go out would be really beneficial in protecting our domain.

Mark: I also want to add that within our markets, there isn’t a lot of staff changeover - we work with schools, so usually there’s only a change of employees leaving and PTAs switching over once a year.

Nevertheless, we also started using the Safety Net everywhere to scan all of our contacts quarterly to keep our lists up to date, and it has been really beneficial.

‍

How have things improved since using Allegrow?

Lindsay: Our bounce rate dropped by 52% in Q2 this year and dropped by a further 26% in Q3, which is great.

We had a pretty good bounce rate to start with, but I think that’s helped push the needle even further.

When we look overall, too, at just our reply rates, our click rates, our open rates – they’ve all improved looking at the quarters we’ve worked with Allegrow this year, compared to last year.

For example, our response rate improved by 80%.

‍

What have you liked most about using Allegrow?

Mark: I think when you sign up for a company, initially you’re thinking about, hey, ‘what is the technology I’m getting?’ or, ‘what are the features that are included with it?’ But on the back end, everyone knows customer success is what wins the day.

I just want to say that Allegrow is exceptional on the customer success side. Not just being responsive, but I think more importantly, willing to deal with the nuances of our particular use cases and problem-solve with us.

I feel like we have a partner who’s taking time to learn who we are, taking time to get into it with us, and then figuring out all the problems that arise. So that has meant a lot.

So whilst we bought the technology, I think what we really gained out of this was a partnership.

Stop bad contacts before your reps send to them

Bounces and risky contacts are what damage sender reputation. Allegrow verifies every contact before it's sent with conclusive valid/invalid results, including catch-all domains and addresses behind Proofpoint and Mimecast that other verifiers mark as “Unknown.”
